My spot, your spot, anybodies spot. Makes no difference. They were MY turkeys, they are public property which he stole and paid for as he should have.

Your probably right, he most likely did other things, BUT this was all he was convicted of. This is the way our justice system works, THANK GOD. If they can't prove it then your innocent. Would you want it any other way???

Furthermore, I am guessing $33,000 is not your typical punishment for illegally killing 2 turkeys, its probably way less than that. I am sure the judge took into account surrounding circumstances when he dealt this out.
Lets hope he isnt wealthy....and the fines hurt his wallet like they should. I say two turkeys should cost a cool 2 mil

Just kidding just stirring the pot now

obert- i didnt read the multiple hunts part ( i guess i should open my eyes before i open my mouth.), and yes, it sounds like these guys are sleazeballs. and the fact that theyre guides makes me like it even less, cause that gives me a black eye. the bottom line is they broke the law, and they need punished, but it needs to be relative to the charge. if all they did was tell a guy to tag two turkeys illegaly, and they had to pay that because it took the usfws 2 years to get them to do it, thats rape brother. if they have them on multiple charges over a period of time, good, shut em down.

Right, but I'll pay my non-resident tag b/c as of now, I don't live in SD and therefore shouldn't be granted a resident tag. It's like having SD residents come over the Niobrara public land hunting with SD tags. I don't think you or any of us would be pleased with that eh?

We didn't know squat about lopers either, but we got shots. The bear hunt I'm going on will be w/no guide, and yes I may get eaten. But that makes it even more exicting to me.

Oh no, but I just think that if you live in a state you should get preferences when it comes to certain things such as hunting.

Last time I hired a guide it was for a moose hunt. We never even had our guns off safety, HECK we never even saw antlers!

I will most likely NEVER hire a guide again for big game. Decided right quick that I could save a lot of money and see the same dang thing by doing it myself!

Before selecting to have a guide, I would look at success rates with or without a guide; most places have these stats.

Another thing to consider is the terrain you are in, one can get lost real easy if unfamiliar with the landscape, especially in the dark. The guide knows the ins & outs, nearby roads, and alot of big game guides are trained in first aid- a necessity in bear country. I don't look at the guide's only purpose is to put me on a trophy; it makes the hunt more enjoyable knowing you have someone that knows all aspects of the ground.

Stalking a mulie in Wyoming one time, a T-Storm with hail blew in within minutes and made finding the truck real difficult- took over an hour; equipment and gear was completely drenched. Never thought I needed a guide either but let me tell ya, that made me think a little.

I wouldnt worry about getting eaten by a black bear up there, I'd be more worried about the timber wolves...and the mosquitoes.

By Timberwolves do you mean the basketball team or the animal?

That is not a basketball team that you would need to worry about!
