| We are back and WOW did we have a great time! We saw over 40 birds in a day and a half of hunting. My son connected with his first turkey about 11am on Saturday morning. We called in 3 hens and 2 jakes and he blasted a jake at 40yds. Smoked him right there! I was so excited I dont even remember his gun going off! He handled my old Winchester 20ga Model 1200 like a champ using 3in - #4 shot. About an hour later I called in two big longbeards that flew across an old river channel to us. Gobbling was awesome! They came in right behind us gobbled REALLY close. NOTE: This is next part is a lesson learned... I could not help but peek thru the side panel of the blind. There they were! 18yds! But they saw me! I found out a bit later that when I looked, I was actually silhouetted on the other side of the blind! Later in the day a big old tom came prancing in to my skullclnr's setup. He was not liking the jake decoy. Skullclnr missed (shot over) mis-judged the distance. This morning it was windy but we still saw a lot of birds. Skullclnr missed a tom AGAIN! My son and I also called in 8 hens and a really nice longbeard. But they hung up at 60yds. We also had two WT deer come 30 yds from the blind - that was cool! | Yeah we had a great time. It was great to see cnelks boy whack that bird, he had a smile on his face all weekend, and so did his proud papa!! We sure hunted hard, we sat in the blinds all day Sat and a lot of Sunday. Underestimated how sneaky the little things are, and how hard it is to hit one of em with a bow (I learned two hard lessons about judging distance with a bow). Hopefully we make it out again to try again....I am addicted.

| Since this is our first successful turkey hunt, we actually did not know how the proper way to take pics of a gobbler. So we just took alot! We did the "fan" setting and we did this one below. Is there a "correct" way to display a gobbler? ![]() CK_BK1.jpg

Oh, The "Father and Son" picture (or father and daughter or two buddies etc) is always the best. |

| AMEN War Pig!! I hate the "I am to tough to smile for the Picture" picture. I also think the point about getting low on the ground when you take the picture is VERY important. If you have a little of the horizen in the picture I think it makes all the differene.
