| Again K.I.S.S. I use a Raspy ol Hen diaphram when they're in close. If they're off a ways I like a Primos OL Glory slate call. I can purr better with the slate call & a soft purr with a couple soft yelps following, is a killer.

| I tried a Primos "snuff tube" last year (I like to try a new call or two every year). It took a little practice but I liked it. I can even do a pretty decent gobble on it! (I hunt private ground and can get away with gobbling). I recommend trying one. It's not my favorite call but if the longbeard won't come in...a little gobble (I try to sound like a jake) can be all it takes to convince him that he needs to get over to where you are. |

| BTW As far as my favorite call goes...I am partial to a glass or slate friction call. I use just about everything though and like them all. Is it just me or have diaphragm calls gotten expensive? $10.00 for a diaphragm! Give me a break. I've been looking for a new one. I've been using a "diamond cutter" and like it but I may look into Woodhaven (per Boomer's recommendation). Anyone else have a favorite mouth call? |

| You can't beat a mouth call if you know what you are doing. You can make any call a turkey can make, loud or soft, and there are so many choices out there that you could sound like 100 different turkeys. Another big thing is that mouth calls are etremely cheap!

| I have an older HS box call and a hard body decoy, yep the one with the head that moves when you pull a string...old but still works. Tom

| That is too funny. I am very partial to a diaphragm myself. |

| i like to vary between slate and diaphragm, any really raspy mouth call is good and i like to try new stuff every year. i generally have to get new calls each season anyway because they tend to get lost, broken, etc. you'd be amazed how many box calls never sound the same again after a long day out hunting in the rain or how many slates wont withstand the weight of a knee or butt. at the moment i am eagerly awaiting the arrival of a couple box calls handmade by Dick Turpin. |

| I like the stacked raspy mouth calls also. I don't sound too good on them but they seem to work well early in the season. Arrowed more turkeys with those than the rest combined. I bring them all ( box, slate, push button) along though. Some days they respond better to those. |
