| Hey tom i was reading some of the first post you made on here and was wondering after washing and soaking the traps in vinager solution, if you dont have die can you spray paint the foot holds or is there another option to dying. I paint all of my Duffers coon cuffs white. but that doesnt affect the much since its all inside the box. Any suggestions would be great... ive never dyed my traps i just wash them and than just let um rust... also im located in central nebraska about 35 miles east of karney and have never tried for a cat.. my parents neighbor catches the heck outta them and also phil vanbibbern ( i cant think of his trap supply website he buys fur just north of grand island.) I see cats while sittin my deer stands once and a while and see tracks often but, ive never tried for them because i dont know if they take the same trails of it they just "walk around". ive read and been taught numbers of ways to catch cats but no one has said where to find them, and info like how far they go in an area and what the chances of them comming back to a spot are. any help would b appreaciated. | BC...I wash the traps after the vinegar cleaning, let hang for a day or two until a lite rust covers the trap. Then I bring a pot of water to a simmer that contains "black walnuts". This solution will dye your traps a nice dark color. Then I wax them. This not only protects the metal but speeds the trap while firing. Many do nothing to their traps, I do. If you are seeing cats, set your traps right were the cat stepped. The males will travel greater distances in January and February during the breeding season. Just google search BOBCAT and you will have more information then you probably want LOL... You are probably refering to Jess, and Phil runs the Prarrie Creek fur buying and trap supply, both of who are very good trappers and set a lot of traps, both things you need to apply in ordor to catch numbers of critters.
