Default Changes Made to List of Open, Restricted Boating Waters

LINCOLN, Neb. – Boaters should be aware of changes made this spring to the list of waters that are open or restricted, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
The following bodies of water are added to the list of open waters that are open to all boating, with restrictions:
- Crescent Lake (National Wildlife Refuge), Garden County – 5 mph/no wake.
- Hedgefield Lake Wildlife Management Area (WMA), Lancaster County – Speed over 5 mph prohibited; speed of all vessels must be reduced so the wash and wake will cause no discomfort, hazard, injury, or damage to person, vessel or property.
- Qwest Lake at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park (SP), Cass County – Speed over 5 mph prohibited; speed of all vessels must be reduced so the wash and wake will cause no discomfort, hazard, injury, or damage to person, vessel or property.
- Randall W. Schilling WMA, Cass County – Speed over 5 mph prohibited; speed of all vessels must be reduced so the wash and wake will cause no discomfort, hazard, injury, or damage to person, vessel or property.
- Tobacco Island WMA, Cass County – Speed over 5 mph prohibited; speed of all vessels must be reduced so the wash and wake will cause no discomfort, hazard, injury, or damage to person, vessel or property.
The following is added to the list of restricted open waters that are open to nonpowered vessels and those powered with conventional outboard electric motors:
- Two Rivers State Recreation Area (SRA), Douglas County, lakes 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7
The following is added to the list of waters closed to all motorboats:
- Bader Memorial Lakes, Merrick County
The following are added to the list of waters closed to all boats:
- Baright Lake at Eugene T. Mahoney SP, Cass County
- Jenny Newman Lake at Platte River SP, Cass County
- Calamus Reservoir, Garfield County – The following area is closed: Bureau of Reclamation water control channels, consisting of the spillway outlet works channel and the river outlet works channel from the base of the dam to the drop structure facility on the Calamus River.
