Fresh water fishing tips and lake fishing many different species

6-8" on one of the ponds we fished today. Nice and clear ice. The other pond we fished had a bout 4-5" on it. Both ponds were about 3-4 acres big.

here's a couple fish from friday. obert with his big fish. kept a few gills, but still kinda slow due to not being able to get to the area i want to yet. im sure all this snow hasnt helped the cause either. watched one guy with a sled make his way out there, drill a hole, and turn around and shuffle back to the truck and leave.

Shoot guys, let me know next time you are gonna go there. That place is directly behind my house, I come in from the backside with my ATV and fish the back channel during the summer. Just bought some icefishing gear yesterday, and hit SB today with a couple buddies and caught lots of trout. Need to get the head of my auger sharpened before I try to drill anymore holes...

Fished another farm pond the other day. Action was fast and non stop, probably caught close to 100 gills between a friend and myself. Most in the 6-8" range and a couple 9+" ones.

just got back from Chadron. 2 days on Box Butte and 1 day on Carter P. Big gills on box butte. I only caught 2 that were under 8". most being 9-10 with a couple nearing 11. I also caught 2 nice perch. and a buddy caught 1 hammer handle pike.

Only thing we caught at Carter P was a few trout and 1 15" bass. Water was crystal clear and we watched every fish eat our bait.

10+ inches of ice on every piece of water we walked on.

Finally got onto the ice for the first time this year. I was only able to spend about a hour and half on the ice before having to meet up with the folks to head to Omaha for family get together. Ended up with 7 crappies and 7 gills. Here is my first fish of the season.

01/02/09 went to Smith Lake on Crescent. Caught quite a few perch and bluegill and 1 17" bass. We started on the South end and then worked our way along the east bank before finally getting into the fish on the north end. Nothing spectacular about the day except it was a beautiful day to be outside.

Fished Pawnee slough by Maxwell 01/10 caught 3 bluegill, 6 cats and one pole. Anywhere from 1 - 5 foot of open water around the edges and near the reeds. Ice thickness ranged from 2"-8".
