    Default Updated: Fowl Kill'n Machine

After years of wanting a duck boat, i finally made the leap and bought me one. I looked and researched every possible option over the years and finally made the decision to do it right and get exactly what i wanted the first time around. I do some fishing in the summer and just recently got into bowfishing so i wanted something that was all around, but mainly for waterfowl.

I wanted to do it right and get a boat that would go anywhere, that would last me a lifetime, come with all the options i wanted and i would never have to upgrade. I eventually decided on an 1854 Pro Drive boat with a 36 hp Pro Drive Surface Drive mud motor, mainly because of the Reverse feature and a gear driven lower unit as opposed to the belt driven unit of a mud buddy.

So far the boat has 3 ped seats down the middle 1 on the deck, trolling motor mount, plug, removable spotlight, 2 12v acc. plugs, bildge pump, and removable/moveable gun box. Spud pole kit already welded into the boat. The gun box is held down with thumb screws that can go in 6 different spots in the boat.

I figured i would start a thread as i will be working on the boat this summer getting it ready for the season.

    Some planned upgrades

Going to camo it of course

Just bought an 80# Trolling Motor, ive use CoPilot before and liked it so im going to put that on, with a quick release bracket.

Cableas Flip Top Blind, im going with just the frame and Cold Weather Fabric, then i will probably fast grass it, since i really dont like the cableas brand grass, and heard it doesnt last as long.
On board charger, led interior lights, and adjustable pedestal seats to name a few

Had her out the other day and it should be around 30mph. Taking it out to the river in a little bit with a gps to see what it does on the river, find some mud and maybe shoot a few fish.

Will post some more pics throughout the summer as i update it all.

Google Pro Drive.. nearest dealer is in Clinton, IA

Took it on the river yesterday found a small creek to have some fun on, got some good video going 14mph in reverse in a creek no wider then the boat and about 6 inches of water. The boat rides and handles like a dream. Saw 28mph, held mostly around 27.5 running with the current. Thats with 2 guys my dog and 10 gal of gas, which is plenty fast for me and where i'll be using it most. Brought my bow and shot a common so its getting broke in the right way.

I think Jason is going to try and post up some videos sometime soon if he can, got some good footage.

Pop Up blinds in Melrose IA. Spendy but it will be the last blind you will ever have. Custom made to your boat if you take boat to him. WARM and DRY. Some of these blinds are over 20 years old and still in use. I have 1 for my Lund Alaskan. Check the classified section here for pictures, I had my Alaskan posted for sell with the blind.
