Walter Eaves, the only BON member from South Dakota, joined me on the river this weekend. Saturday morning we put in and ran 20 miles upstream to begin a full day float back to the ramp. Walt had never shot a bighead carp or a grass carp, and this was going to be his chance. The 3rd wing dam we drifted behind I spotted a bright spot in the back of the pool. While I doubted that I could be lucky enough to spot two yellow bigheads in one lifetime, my hopes were high that it was just that. As we drifted around the "suck" white mouths started to appear in the area where the bright spot hovered. I knew it had to be another yellow bighead, so I told Walt to wait until we were able to get that fish. When the time came, Walt made a perfect shot on the fish. Here is a photo of Walt and his first ever bighead carp.
