many of the small lakes/ponds that had ice before the last few days actually opened back up on the edges...but with the next 3 days with only 3 or 4 hours a day over freezing and lows around 20, I think we'll get an inch or two in the next couple days in some spots. my guess is 18 days Ill be ice fishing somewhere in NE.

29 degrees here at 6:00 pm should get down right cold tonight with the clear sky. No wind either should have good skim ice again on everything in the morning. The water temps are ready we just need a nice artic blast for a week. 17 days untill 15 days of vacation

Was 32 at 1pm today. Hopefully these cold nights put some ice on the water. How long does a guy let his buddy stand out there before assuming the ice is safe?

Thanks Sorny. I just wasn't sure how long I should wait til I went out there. Can never be too safe you know.

Hahahaha... Does not hurt to take a spud bar with you to test the ice in front of you. My fat A$$ would fall through ice you can walk on obert.

Fat guy walking on the ice in York co. I walked out on the local pond today with my trusty axe and cut a hole. We have 2-2 1/2" here. It's real good clear ice too. Not enough for me to fish on yet, but wont be long. Ordering bait on monday morning.

I tested out lake five at Cedar Creek today. NOT ENOUGH!! Hopefully if it stays cold, a week or two away.

2.5" on small pond near Plattsmouth. My buddy is already fishing in SD

i talked to the guy at the baitshop and he said that it is 6" on the snake river that is in merritt and i forget how much he said was on the refugee lakes but it was quite a bit but ya he said one guy he talked to was already fishin out on merritt hope this helps ya guys later jd

People on Wehrspann and Zorinsky yesterday, I've heard up to 6" of ice in some spots.

be careful on PV. there are spots right out from the boat ramp off the first point that are NOWHERE near safe. Im talking less than one inch!
