homemade boats

posted this one in the fishing completely disregarding the boat forum!

anyone had any experience building their own jon boat? i have thought about it and decided it would be a really fun project. if anyone has done it or is in the process let me know. im tryin to decide how to go about getting the materials and plans (if anyones got any plans and measurements let me know). i have found a couple of websites that sell them for like 25 bucks a pop, but im really set on gettin one of these little jon boats built for some of the no wake lakes here in the metro area. let me know!

I'm in the process of building one now... Est time of completion... as soon as it gets warm enough to Fiberglass...lol Mine's a little different design than most jon boats, But I'll post a pic when it gets fiberglassed and cut. I built the hull out of .25 inch plywood and it took me about 6 hours (the spars and transom are 3/4) The best design software I could find was at Carlson Design Plotter/Cutters The software seems a little complex at first but it is actually really simple!!! This is what I used, good luck and let me know when yours is done so I can have you send me a couple pics!!
