Gps sonar units

Don't even know where to start with the questions. Really leaning towards a Lowrance, but what about the Garmin's? What I'm looking for is something that will track trolling speed, give water temp, map and save tolling paths, and give a clean and clear sonar pic. Is there a differnce between an internal antenna and external?

I would like to hear first hand from someone that's happy with theirs, rather than a sales person trying to talk me into a $3000 offshore unit.

I run 2 Lowrance 332c's and they do evereything you want them to do. I have had really good luck with them and am even thinking about upgrading to a different Lowrance unit for my console. Thinking I need one of them $1800 HD units. Wife might change my mind though!!!!!!!!!!!!

The LCX-113C HD is sweet, can even get the weather radar on it!

Unless they have made the internal GPS reciever better, I would stay away from 522c. Go with the 520c and find somewhere to mount the GPS puck! Trying to save you some headache man.

I only use lowrance, they offer the best sonar and their GPS isn't bad either, its made for fisherman.

What kind of issues I just went to Cabelas this afternoon and bought the 527c

The transducer is the size of my friggin fist! Gonna have to wait for Reddoggs2 to help with the install......I'm totally lost

The units with IGPS(internal gps) have a problem with getting good signals alot of times. Hope it works out for you!

Yeah, they are cheaper for sure. When you get into them dual frequency transducers, the price sure does go up!

No need for the dual frequency unless you are going to fish often over about 80 fow. Not much of that kind of depth in this neck of the woods. The 200ghz will work just fine.

Don't forget about Humminbird. They have really came along in the past few years and after looking at technology, quality and customer service, Hummingbird was the easy choice for me. The new SI technology is amazing and will really help in learning and eliminating water.

Never had a customer service issue with Lowrance. Call them, get an approval number for service, send it in. No problem

I prefer Garmin's GPS operating system. I think it is quite a bit simpler to operate than Lowrance's. They also make internal antenna units that are superior to any Lowrance I have seen. Rather than buy a large combo unit like the 113c or x25, I went with a 510 color sonar Lowrance and bought a couple Garmin 178c GPS units with internal antenna. You can pick up the Garmins on Ebay for bargain prices and they are then very portable, needing only 12v power to operate. No external antenna and wiring involved. A friend takes one of mine ice fishing on our local lake because I have all of the structure marked. He just mounts it on his ATV and off he goes.

The best part? You'll save some serious coin just buying seperate units and still have the same square inches of screen.
