New Broadheads

What does everyone think of the new broadheads out? I'm thinking of trying the NAP bloodrunner. Some of these new broadheads have double blades on each side, fixed and combo together, etc. Anyone check them out?

I think Ill stay with Mr. consistent in the rage 2 blade. I did see that rage came out with a smaller 1.5" diameter two blade for women and children who dont create as much kinetic energy so as to make sure they get full penetration. looked like it made sense.

I've been shooting Thunder heads for years without any problems, and I love them. Now that I've been trying to get a deer with a recurve I might be looking at a cut on contact type of broadhead such as the Magnus Snuffer.

IMO, it doesnt matter what you use as long as they fly good and they're sharp.

I'll keep my rage and montecs, but really interested in the looks of this new NAP. Looks like they'd fly a lot more like a field point. But not sure how the mechanics are on them. I started and used thunderheads for a long time, just switched to G5s 2 years ago and stuck with them. These new broadheads are quite different though.

I use the Rocket Sidewinder and the Rage 2-blade. I took a doe last year with a 30-yard shot using the Rocket Sidewinder. Hit her right in the heart. She went 15-yards and did the death drop. If you are shooting over 300 fps, you want to use two of the dental rubber bands to prevent premature opening.

Used the Rage 2 blade last year and love the size of the hole those things make, But not real happy with there flight down range. I think im gonna stick with the old trusty Rocket Steelheads. I get consistant flight with them out past 50 yrds.

OR shoot a fixed blade and don't worry about that. Maze hit it on the head.....if your arrow flys straight, broadhead is sharp and you put it where it needs to be, game over. I guess I'm old school when it comes to broadheads...never bought into the expandable hype. I've seen the damage they do but I've also seen a few guys whose blades didn't open and the disgust it caused them.

I shot magnus stingers for years. Flew well but the blood trails weren't that good. Switched to slick tricks last year. Shot a buck and 3 does with them. They fly great and the blood trails are the kind you follow standing up. No bending down to look for blood.

I use Shuttle T Locks...they have by far shot the best out of all the broadheads i put through my bow.

I tried fixed blades but could never get them to fly to my liking. I've had friends who also had troubles with mechanical heads not expanding. Most of it was due to low shooting poundage. In bow hunter Education we teach 50-pounds minimum for proper blade deployment, but on a personal note, I think over 60-pounds is more ideal. Blade deployment depends on penetration energy.

Best advice ever: Stick with what works best for you. Nobody to get mad at that way...

In the bow hunter ed class I teach, all instructors advise against expandables....mostly because most kids in the class haven't even harvested an animal with a bow yet. The last thing they need to worry about is proper poundage to make sure their blades open, using two rubber bands, etc.

You're right, different strokes for different folks.

I agree with you. I do not recommend them to kids either. We also advise them to watch out for all the "crap" out there as well and encourage them to ask lots of questions when looking at new gear. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I've gone with the old Muzzy this year adding 5 grain to my old set up. Be careful those little five grains change a lot even at 30 yards. I had a 6 in drop. Sharp blades and a lot of time practicing with them and you could take just about anything.
