When I was 8, about 28 years ago, I bought my first spinning reel on my own. It was a Shimano MX-200 and cost me like $20 back in the day. I had not used the reel in at least ten years (the drag is weak and the bail will not close when engaging the reel), but kept it around for sentimenal reasons. The reel is a great one for its time, but no comparison to my stradic.
Well, I strung it with some 8 pound test and headed off to a local bass pond for some early morning father's day fishing. I caught 3 largemouth ranging from 16" to 21 1/2". The reel performed well despite its age and disfunction. It took some back reeling on the biggest one, but was I was able to land the monster.
I think a master angler largemouth is a perfect retirement fish for my classic.
