Since tomorrow marks the start of the new fowlin year I figured I would start this up.
With the exception of picking up acouple haybales this afternoon to brush the blind up, we are ready. Even had time to build a dog kennel inside the pit, something I have wanted to do for quite awhile. I dug the floaters and shells out and took them to the lake. Was in the process of cutting new strings for some of the floaters when the rain started. I will get the Hardcores out of Dads garage this afternoon when he gets off work.
Less than 24hrs and I will be like a puppet master again. Pulling thier strings with the sound of a call...making them go where I want them to go, not were they set out to be.
As for the mornings bird sightings....
Goose movement was definately down compared to how it has been, probably due to the cloud cover and coming rain. Saw 2 flocks and a single, first bunch came by earlier than normal, around 7:30. The other bunch around 12:15 was kinda strange, they came down the river from the west and were about 250 yards high. These were definately not your normal Fremont birds, they could have come from Columbus or Schuyler for all I know, I just know they didnt just get up 5 miles away. Teal wise, we saw 1, so things arnt looking to promising there.
We have a full blind tomorrow so any flocks that do come in are gonna get ripped pretty damn bad. And with 10 guns, 5 bird limits, a full summer of thinking about it, and opening day with alot of young geese for the call back...I can easily see a decent sized flock getting wiped out completely tomorrow.![]()
