Yep, I shoot archery competitively for 4-H. Not too brag, but, I did get 3rd at state last year. As I see it now there isn't much stopping me from taking home first this January at this years state.

For archery is all about practice practice practice. There is nothing you can do about what your oponent is doing, the only thing that you can do to beat your oponent is to shoot better than him, and that comes from practice.

So for me this means year round practice, at least 2-3 times a week but almost always more, especially in the summer.

How many arrows do ya shoot per practice session?
    How far?
    What type of target?
Whats your average score, per session?

    Just curious??

Usually per practice session I shoot somwhere around 70 arrows, depending on the amount of time I have.

When I'm practicing for target competition I shoot at 20 yards, since that is the distance to the target. If im practicing for a 3D I shot from 10 yds-40yds

My score is usually around 270 in a 300 tournament.

You have to practice, It generallly helps to go to as many compititions as possible. Practice until your trigger finger gets a blister

I guess I'll just answer, to feel important.

Shoot about 40-45 Pellets per practice, Usually practice twice a day.
    10 meters, prone, standing, kneeling.
a 10 bull target with 2 "sighter" targets. Total of 12.
Average score.. about 265/300. Or 530/600

I don't know much about the pellet scene but sounds cool.

As for the archery sounds as if your a pretty good shot. I love practing in the spring and summer and 3-d is a blast I usually average around 330 to 340 in MBR and have scored a bit higher on occasion.I go with several guys and we always shoot about the same score. I am actually one of the poorer shots of my group I am just very good at judging distance so it helps me quite a bit. I only go to 2 to 3 per year though. I would average higher if I shot the hunters division that only goes to 35 yards but I like to shoot farther distances also. I have to switch classes this year because of my sight since it is a one pin adjustable.

HailCall, you should come to the tournament thats in Columbus. They have a target competition but they also have the largest indoor 3-D range in NE. The 3-D is a blast to shoot. It's coming up here soon, end of January. The dates are: January 26th and 27th for the 3-D. The target round dates are: January 25th, 26th and 27th.

There's more info. on their webpage.

That sounds like fun. Another to check out if you want to make the drive is Hartington and Maskell. Some great outdoor shoots there.

when i was a kid i shot alot of competitive stuff. 5 meter air rifle, trap, sillouhette. that was so much fun. i really liked the 22 sillouhettes, but i only got to do it once. our team went to the international air rifle shoot the last year i did it. we took 3rd. its good to know that there are kids out there that do stuff other than watch tv and cause trouble.
