Default 200 Yard Rule

The law in Nebraska for Big Game is you basically can't hunt with any weapon within 200 yards of the nearest dwelling (without permission from all the dwellings with 200 yards). Given the vastly different effective ranges of each weapon type, a single limit makes no sense to me. Lowering the limit for archery makes sense and would help allow more hunting in and around urban areas where deer are overpopulated.

Speaking of the 200 yard rule, this maybe a bit off your topic. But in our urban areas around state wildlife and rec areas, there should be a zoning ordance of no dwellings within 200 yds of these areas!

Turky hunter, I believe that fits right in with atremuss's topic. And I couldn't agree more.

Right or wrong, I really think it would take a miracle to get the 200 yard rule lifted for any reason or even changed for any reason.

Don't believe that for a minute. The 200 yard rule did not stop the ban on road side trapping bill. The politicians and tree huggers will take what they want when they want, and then try and get it back.
