We as a country are as safe from Iraq now as we have always been. And the true war on terror,...the war in Afghanistan has taken nothing but a a tragic turn for the worse in the last several years. Bush and his administration have had a handle on absolutely nothing. Our money, our blood, and our respect have gone right down the drain with him at the helm. Mission Accomplished Bush...the near ruination of the greatest country on the planet. Probably wouldn't be too tough for McCain to carry on for Bush,...there ain't nothin much left to destroy!
And no I don't feel a hell of a lot safer than I did in 2000 either.
I do feel hungrier now tho', and I do know a much larger percentage of the world hates me.

I laughed at the begining of your reply Whisker. Funny stuff. Couldn't agree more with you on feeling safe. I don't feel safer. If anything I'm more worried now. Not saying we shouldn't have retaliated. Just saying I feel more scared now for me, my family, and all of America than I ever have. Before a small group hated us. Now many, many others do too. Not to mention we are 600 billion to 1 trillion in debt because of this war and 24% of the debt is owed to China and 28% to Japan. Not sure who the rest is owed to. Nothing like some Asian countries owning our a$$'s.

Well I do feel safer, the number of terrorist attacks here that have been stopped, even if one, is a step in the right direction. Anyone who does not realize the amount of this country that was owned by foreigners long before this conflict and the amount of money leaving needs to do a little on line research to see who really owns America...We the people are the only thing holding US together, It is not the bussiness world. It does not matter who would have been in charge, 9/11 hurricanes, floods, defense, and offense mandate an action. I believe the correct actions were taken at the time. Could some things have been done differently? Absolutely. Does one man in this country have so much power that he can be responsible for so much? I think not. Tom

And Tom, reading your statement makes me laugh TWICE as hard! We are so far in debt to the rest of the world there is no bottom to the pit. WE THE PEOPLE are selling off our own country on piece at a time. The things we as consumers buy that are "American Made" is very low on the list. We owe the rest of the world unheard of amounts of borrowed money and guaranteed "trade". And we are being led down this path by these "people in the know" that some of you worship.
And yes, the terrorist attacks, hurricanes and floods were destined to happen. The retaliation to 9-11 was indeed needed. The Afghan campaign (you remember,... the one where we went after the guys who actually attacked us) started out very well, then mired down and drug on for years, placed on the back burner financially and logistically by Bush and his vendetta in Iraq. It (Afghanistan) is starting to again become more public only because it is turning bad for us again. The invasion of Iraq was probably needed too but the timing and the management of it by the Bush administration, bot senior and junior. was a "not thought out" fiasco which has brought this country to it's knees in a puddle of our soldiers blood. The same goes for the administrations management of the afore mentioned natural disasters. To put it simple,..it was and is one screw up after another. I do blame it on Bush, I blame his administration, and I blame all the people who stand behind him. But mostly I blame the ones who voted him in for a second round of disaster! I for one will NOT "honor and obey" my Commander in Chief when he is (put politely) WRONG!

You have your opinion though in my opinion wrong and I have mine. How we can see this world so differently is utterly amazing. The Bush administration has done an admirable job considering all that has gone on. The Congress and Senate have approve the purse strings and the actions right along. The point you made about us selling our country is exactly what I meant earlier. I clearly remember the first time I saw a cowboy bow to acknowledge his new boss a Japanese business man with a broad brimmed white stetson on.........that is the reality of this. Tom

On that I agree,...and it sucks.
But I believe it to be a large trickle effect right down through congress and the senate.
BUT hey,...a trickle always starts at the top right.

We still have the best lifestyle in the world. No one anywhere offers what we do here. I would imagine that if it ever got to the point we really got tired of it we would nationalize, with draw inside our borders, reevaluate our monetary system, so the world wide debt would vanish. Then live like the rest of the world....where only the strong survive at an unimaginable cost to human life. I don't have the answer or I would sure implement it... Tom
