Default Severe Weather and Tornadoes...

Seems like every year around memorial time is a bullseye for severe weather, this year doesn't appear to be much different. Much of SW and extreme SC NE are under the gun for severe weather beginning Thursday and lasting into the weekend, maybe slowly working slightly East each day. Areas nearest the NE/KS boarder should keep a watch to the sky as conditions look to possibly be coming together to support a strong long track tornado or two, looks like the greatest threat for Thursday may be just South of the boarder but that can change and even on Friday strong instability combined with strong upperlevel and lowlevel wind shear will cause the storms that manage to break the cap to rotate. I'll be leaving early tomorrow morning and will be out chasing through the weekend, it is possible I may have room to take one person along if it can efficiently be arranged to meet up, let me know if your interested...

Man Dustin, I wish I could go with you! I used to spot and chase storms. I haven't been on a really good storm in about 15 years. Last good tornado I was behind was the one that hit Wilson Lake in KS back in 1993. It ended up being a F4 killer. It killed an elderly woman at one of the campgrounds. I have seen quite a few since then but nothing that big. Last one was at Johnson's lake the same weekend Hallam got destroyed. Seen a few gustnados and a few weak LP storms that have produced split second touchdowns since.

Maybe someday down the road when I am not busy and your heading out this way, we can hook up!

Greg

Wow, used to be seeing a tornado was hard work and something that you were only fortunate to see on like every 1 out of 10 chases, not the case the last couple days. Again today filmed multiple violent large wedge tornadoes in NW KS, shacked up in Hays, looks like will have to race North-East tomorrow, current target for tomorrow is the Albion to Norfolk area...

Did you get on that storm that was by Ellis? Sounded like that would have been a good storm to be on! I have seen quite a few good storms around that area since I used to live in Russell & Hays.

Good luck today.

Yes indeed, I'm still working on getting everything on the web.

FYI today could get REALLY insane in portions of NE, esspecially NE NE by later this evening, significant severe weather appears likely including the possibility of strong long track tornadoes, please just keep an eye to the sky, this has to potential to be a really dangerous Day.

Here a special SPC public forecast Storm Prediction Public Severe Weather Outlook

My lawn business is never going to get caught up. We need a bit of a break from the rains.

I hope the worst passes us by, what a weird season so far....

I'm building an ark. It has been raining for quite a while now, started about 8pm last night and had downpours and then a steady rain for a while. I don't think I'll be mowing, I'll be putting up hay when the sun does come out.

I asked her If I could help her in order to speed things up. She told me she was trying to check her 'balance'. I pushed her and she fell down.-----not very good balance.
