On March 29th, Hardin Hall on the University of Nebraska East Campus (JUST South of NGPC building) will host the 2008 Central Plains Severe Weather Symposium. I have never been able to attend this event, ironically the last 2 years the event has fallen on days that ended up producing Severe Weather in Oklahoma and I opted to chase instead. Though from what I hear, and by looking at the schedule, I would recommend this event to anyone with any interest in Severe Weather. There are some interesting speakers lined up this year, I am guessing Mike Umscheid's lecture will be quite interesting, he was the warning forecaster on duty during the Greensburg Tornado. There are many other speakers lined up, there will be many Exhibits there (including Fish and Wildlife exhibits according to their site), and it looks as though there will be a showing of Storms of 2007 in the Theater, a decent collaboration of donated chaser footage, the DVD is available for sale and all proceeds go to charities helping storm victims, this year I donated a very short time lapse clip of the Tulia Texas tornado, there is some excellent footage from many other chasers. Barring March 29th becoming a chase day

, I will be in attendance at the event. For a list of events and schedule see their website...
