Default This week's fishing

Yesterday a few white bass, smb, and walleye...

Stringer thief ran outta luck yesterday...34#

Here's this morning's walleye and sauger. Lots of drum and gar were hitting both mornings, as usual. Another stringer thief, a mink, got hold of the sauger and did a little gnawing when I wasn't watching.

Nice pics Eric! I had a mink grab a small CF right here in front of my house one night. The water was low that year & when he got it, the fight was on. It was as much fun as catching a sea gull. He finally broke my line so I figure I owe him one now.

I've had mink attempt to steal fish from me several times in the past, quite entertaining animals so long as they do not succeed

I did butcher the turtle but I'm not a big fan of the meat. A friend who has never tried it before has got the meat, I'm waiting for his report.

I saved the shell on the turtle, since I can't remember ever taking a bigger one. I cleaned it fairly well inside and out. Can anyone offer advice about preserving the shells? So that it does not dry out and fall apart?

Here's the inside view of where I'm at now...

I have never done this but I would think it should work pretty well. Dry it out good and then spray it with a dull finish polyeurethane. Or call a taxidermist and ask them the best way.
