Fireline will work excellent in a baitcaster.

Mike,...what was that stuff you had strung all over your back yard last summer?

(Sorry,...couldn't stop myself.)

Another vote for Power pro here. I use it for catfishing on all my baitcasters. The only knot I have found that consistently works is a polymer knot. For my spinning rods I use vanish and I have mixed feelings about it. I am actually in the market for another combo. I will likely get another Stradic and try one of those pricey cabelas rods that richard has. I have a St. Croix and a Scheels pro series rod and like it but I don't wanna limit myself to just one or two brands. Except for catfishing which Abu garcia is my staple reel with the occasional Quantum big iron mixed in.

How does that power pro work (casting) in spinning reels? Also, have heard some of that "super line" will eat the guides on your rod? Am thinking of trying it on a BIG spinning rod/reel for catfish.

I was told that if using a braid, it is best to use a rod with either ceramic or metal guides. A lot of poles have plastic guides on them, and after time or when fighting a fish, especially bigger fish, the braids can cut grooves into softer materials.

Power Pro makes the claim on it's review pages that it will not cut into guides.

Well,...I got some of both worlds on for this spring. 8# Silver Thread on my early walleye rigs. For bass,... two reels with 20# Power Pro, and one with 14# Silver thread.

Not sure yet, but I might use the cheaper 35 & 50# Gorilla braid on my cat rods.

(IF this ice ever melts,...I'll post my thoughts on these lines.)

Decided that 14lb. Berkley XL is my choice for bass plastics.
10 lb. Fireline Crystal works my walleye crankbaits pretty good.
15 & 20 pound power pro on bass lures.
I'll use 8 & 10 lb. power pro on walleye jigs this winter, and probably 4-6 lb. power pro or crystal for ice fishing

And yet another vote for Power Pro here. I first used Power Pro 2 years ago to get my first paddle fish and feel in love with the way it came off the reel and how smooth it casted with just a 3oz wieght using 85lbs test. My dad was using 60lbs Fireline and 4oz wieght and I was throwing about 50 feet longer then he was. I know have Power Pro on everything including my ice fishing gear.

Matt
