Carp-O-Rama Set for June 21 at Pawnee SRA

LINCOLN, Neb. – A day of fishing, demonstrations and fun are planned for the third annual Carp-O-Rama, June 21 at Pawnee State Recreation Area.
Anglers of all ages and experience levels may take part in this Nebraska Game and Parks Commission event at the north end of the dam from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Commission employees will be on hand to assist anglers with tips and techniques, as well as fish-cleaning demonstrations. The fishing area will be pre-baited to improve the chances of catching carp. Loaner equipment will be available.

Dick Turpin will demonstrate his method of cooking fresh carp from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., with samples of his work available for everyone.
Anglers age 16 and older must have a fishing permit and vehicles must have a park entry permit.

James, this event is more of a promote fishing event that the NGPC puts on near Lincoln. It is not a tournament, it is a learning activity for young and old alike. Dick Turpin cooks up a bunch of carp and they loan fishing gear to anybody who wants to try and catch a carp in the area they prebait.

Yeah they did this last year and I beleive it was the first year they held it. It is a fishing event not bowfishing. I don't know why they chose the same name as the 20 year old tourney held at Desoto but that is what they did.

With the forming of the BON this year maybe we can work with the NGPC next year to promote bowfishing at this event?
