Default WANT TO HIRE

Test shooter for arrows I am working on for Bowfishing. Just kidding, but the one I built today didnt work so good Blew up the nock leaving the bow But I am getting Closer

I am in search of depth and penetration. Todays arrow flew at half draw better than anything I ever shot. I think I had the chamfer a little off on the nock end and the nock went sideways on release and broke.

P.S. That Cudas Tough

If your talking about "the bolt" maybe incorporate the nock into the shaft material... or design the nock out of alloy?
Show me one this weekend?
I'll test them for free,...if you put my name on your insurance till the final product is approved.

I would be willing to test some. There is somebody that has an arrow getting ready to come out. oneidabows.net :: View topic - the hydro (new bowfishing arrow)
These were supposed to be out this spring but they held off for more research we will see what it looks like sometime soon I guess.

The nock being a insert is gonna happen I think. This is what I learned today. I built the arrow from 6061 solid aluminum. Anodized for strenght. I installed a safety slide a Muzzy pro tip drilled and pinned the tip and glued it drilled and tapped for the slide stop and glued on a nock. A Fiberglass Muzzy arrow with Pro Tip weighs 95 Grams. My Arrow weighed 125 Grams or 2000 grains total. I was looking for something more rigid and heavier to see if I could get more depth and penetration.

My thoughts were more rigid means less flex on release along with more weight leads to more kinetic energy. Slower but more energy like a choo choo train if you will.

My testing after work tonight revealed that my nock glue job yesterday sucked. Todays nock stayed put for many test shots and is ready for tommorow. The arrow flew well out to 35 yrds after that it would list just slightly but still enter the water straight and the bubble trail was awesome. Under 30 it flew flawless with a great impact on the water.
I always tried to calculate what my bow was doing with the fiber arrows and from what I could tell I could get 6-7 feet down. I went over to a little bridge that crosses the canal and shot straight down I was able to stick the arrow in the mud just slightly at fifteen feet down in a slight current. I was pretty impressed with this.
The material was not straightend and appeared pretty straight by the eyeball method. I am gonna look into how they get arrows perfectly straight. I think if things keep going the way the tests were tonight I will never buy another arrow just build my own.

GONNA STICK A PADDLE WITH ONE IN THE MORNING...........I HOPE.........

how much are these costing you to make, are they economical versus what you can buy retail?

Dont know exactly yet how much. I am on the way to making my own tip so that will help things. The reason I build things for my outings is because I cant find something that suites me. So whatever the cost and I know it will be below retail I will build them.

I see that Sully's makes a Stainless Steel arrow, when you said your nock blew up i figured you were trying something like that. The only downside to the aluminum is that when it does bend, it is permanent. Still a cool thing to make your own equipment, id be glad to test some of it out for you.

good luck keeping your arrows straight. This is a big problem that they have with the other solid metal arrows allready on the market.

True, I have 150 shots on the first one still hangin in there. The Arrow I built is pretty tough. It is a special purpose arrow just like the other arrows on the market. I dont think bounceing a arrow off a rock or sand bottom will do it any good. The arrow is pretty resiliant however. I tried it out a Gavins and was hitting the bottom with it I was impressed. My fiber arrow would get down about 7 feet.
