Well here is one I finally ended up with sunday. Not the largest but after 2 days of hunting it will work. I actually shot 3 fish in a matter of 5-10 minutes. This one first great pass through on it. Then a few minutes later we had another connect he pulled the string tight for a bit then nada. Then the beast came up and I thought I had a good hit on it. Well he ran hard and deep and we thought he was in the boat any second then POOF! Line went slack. Nuthin! But the best part of this fish is that it was banded. Yee-haa!! Almost as good as a collared snow.....almost.... Gonna call the band # in today to see what the deal is. I have another tag so not sure if I will try again or not.

Nice job man! Jc s mom got one of those last year when she went with us. It was a 46"er with no bill. Pretty sweet fishes for sure.

We shot a couple more grass carp and commons. Didnt really have any good shots on pads and Keith was pretty much already rearing up skin cancer since he didnt wear sunscreen all day long. HAHA So we left early.

Ill be back.

So how crowded were the tailwaters? I was up above Springfield chasing buffs all weekend. I'm thinking of coming down for some bigheads this week though. I hope all the crowd has gone home by now.

Daytime boats have thinned out "some". (Weekdays are the ticket up there). Still too much traffic for shooting much of anything but paddlefish & baby gar. I think the bigheads in that area are still on their honeymoons too. Cat drifters during the day and a lot of bank fishermen at night. Even the little ones have gone missing. Downstream may produce better now that the water is up a little.

Yeah, pulled that one out of the evening flight. It was barely a flight at all but ......it payed off eventually and the heat, yeah it sucked 'nuff said there.

As far as the grill goes I was so fried from the weekend that I didn't care if it was cleaned or not!

I was waiting for you guys Ty but after a bit I figured you guys had gone home or went somewhere else.

We counted 20-28 boats at different times below the dam on Friday through Sunday morning. Never realized how many people pursued them in the tailwaters. Crazy!

hope you guys left a few for us. We are headed up friday morning. Are they letting out any more water now? We will probably stay at St. Helena and make that our base. Hopefully it has come up a little to make it easier to get around!

Thats where we stayed. That was our tents right there. I bet you went right by us and didnt even know it.

Im hoping to hear some better reports before I head back up. Im thinking about waiting until the end of the season. I really dont want to go up to the dam and just wait. That just doesnt sound very fun. I like the idea of actually spotting and stalking my fish.

We didn't get on the water til around noon and were off by 6pm or so. Hit the holes we knew down and up river. Surprised how many were out after paddles. The fish were jumping but we sure didn't see them surface other than that. Strain on the eyes though, clouds..then sun..then clouds..then...sun. Almost lost the driver and owner of the boat to a jumper though. That carp came inches from his nose... Was pretty funny. Have been trying and trying to convice the boat owner to add to the rail he has and put a deck on. Not sure that would have helped us that day though, really didn't see anything close.

Sounds interesting, please explain how you stalk a paddlefish. I might give it a try next time.

It takes a lot of training to stalk a paddle. Good camo and Scent Lok helps tremendously..

Ok actually floating or trolling out holes and hunting them up.

Not just anchoring up and hoping and praying.

I should have said hunt........ not stalk.

Sorry to confuse you.
