Great fish Whisker and Eric. I agree with Wild Bill Whisker, it must have been the ROOKIE'S cramping your style. Either that you just did not want to show them up. I hope I can connect on a nice one myself.

Nice job Whisker. Congrats. I've been unable to go out yet, will see if I can find someone to go in the am. Heard it's been a low success so far? That was just the bait shop report I read. Only success I've seen is you 2 on here.

Things might just now be getting good.
Water (Gavins release) is at the highest it's been in quite awhile.

USGS Real-Time Water Data for USGS 06467500 MISSOURI R AT YANKTON,SD

Might put the fish in a "better mood" for the rest of the season (if it holds).

Govt. guys said this is why the bigheads have gone missing in that area over the last week too,...the water rise has triggered a spawn.

trivia: The male bigheads will sometimes surface and "roll" almost like a spoonbill during the spawn. They will spawn in high, fast, turbulent water. Four or five males will often chase a female dropping her eggs, and in cleaner water you might even see a male actually wrapping himself around a female to induce (or seduce) an egg release.

We're heading to the river mid-morning. Not positive where yet, but leaning toward the tailwaters. We'll see what happens.

Got to go up this afternoon for 4 hours of trying. Craig stuck one right in the end of the tail and it got free right at the grab at the boat.......Bummer. I would say that there were 3 real real good shots at nice ones that I missed. There were some Catfish drifters that kept running up the channel and drifting back down and I think that made it a little tougher.

Next week it's breakfast in the dark, a couple hours of fishing, then parked and ready before daylight,....right Mr. Bill?

Had an "interesting" sight about 6 miles from home,...then a panic attack. Saw a plume of smoke straight in line with my house, and the closer I got the straighter the line got! Had to call mama twice before she answered. Turned out to be a controlled practice burn. Then I see the whole town turned out. Everybody showed up to watch the volunteer fire department in action!. It was lawn chairs, coolers, kids, and pets. Bigger than the fourth of July!
Me,....well it just made my eyes water.
