Huntingne's 2008 Bowfishing Tourney

Huntingne will be hosting it's 1st annual bowfishing tournament. The date for this event will be June 14, 2008. We will meet at 6am to sign in and return to The Green Diamond by 5pm the same day.

I'm going to open this up for thoughts, suggestions and etc. Since this is our first attempt at holding our own tourney we will adjust the above paragraph until it is completed. So any suggestions or thoughts please add. We need all the help/tips we can get to make this successful and FUN.

I did a really fun tourney a few years back so I'm going to throw this idea out. Have a meeting place in the am. Everyone checks in and then heads to their favorite waters. In the pm meet back at the check in point and weigh or count the fish. Its a fun touney because not everyone will be going to the same places so it spreads teams out.

Here is another great idea and maybe some members might know of a place like this. Find a private lake that has a carp problem. Approach the lake association about having a tourney there to help eliminate some of their unwanted carp.

On this one we're going to meet somewhere between Yankton-St. James,Ne. I like the private lake idea too, possibly we can look into that next year or if this one is succesful we could do another.

Josh can chime in here too with his thoughts, but this is a lot like we were thinking. Meet at a certain time in the am, meet back at the same spot sometime in the pm. Go where you want.

We are working on the "go ahead" right now but we are looking to use the St. Helena boat ramp area for check-in. If your not familiar where that ramp is we will post postive directions once we get the go ahead...its roughly 5 miles east of hwy81 Nebraska side of the river.

Plans are, everyone checks in at the ramp, probably draw numbers for take off order. At the gun everyone goes where they want, just as long as they make it back to the ramp by weigh-in.

Every shoot I have ever shot has been 2 man teams, but sometimes 2 guys just arnt enough, so I would say 2 or 3 man teams.

We shot at the Kansas State shoot last weekend and it was a 2-3 man teams. Three guys worked out great. I think it would be nice to have the extra hands espically on the river. It also covers gas better with that third man to help split the cost.

I hope I can ok it with the wife. Between DeSoto, Calamus and now the Huntingne tourney......she's going to draw the line, and cut me off,

I don't care either way, but I like the Green Diamond idea.

I think Green Diamond is an excellent choice, if the owner is cool with it I'd say let's meet there.
