I think I'm going to check out Desoto on Sunday if it's not windy. I'll let you know what I see.

Drove to Desoto today because I was bored. All I saw was brown water. Couldn't see past 12" from the bank. Decided to walk the woods for 20 minutes hoping to find a stray mushroom or pound. Nothing. It's too early for everything. I'm getting frustrated.

I went to DeSoto today saw a couple of carp cruising, water was fairly clear. It should start really heating up here in about a week or 2.

Was there today. Water wasn't too bad but couldn't see much from the bank because of wind. Just some dark shadows once in a while. Saw quite a few jumping.

Sounds like the Buffs are crusing the banks.

Went to the Mo river Tuesday. Pretty slow yet, windy, and muddy. Didnt see a whole lot. But was able to get 3 Grassies, all in the 10# to 15# range. Also did find a good bunch of silvers. It got pretty crazy in one spot. If Id had help, we could of got a few could shots off. A couple of them cleared the boat. Then I ran in to the DNR guys and donated them my fish. They had a few Silvers in their boat aswell. Still seems a bit early, but its just going get better form hear on!

Hit Desoto again today. Got 5 decent shots but didn't bring anything home. Hit one on a pretty far shot. It jumped out of the water and shook all around. You could see my arrow stuck in the fish but must not have gotten very good penetration. Still not much movement over there. Just one here, one there out in the middle. Then a boat decided to cruise right on through and the action stopped. Gonna give it a go again Wednesday I believe.

I work near Lake Manawa in Council Bluffs, IA. I often check the lake on my lunch break and haven't seen too much action lately. I have been told that because the lake is shallow and muddier than most the water is usually warmer than other lakes. Been told that the spawn hits there about a week before DeSoto. I haven't taken the boat out but do cruise the shore line. I expect that the end of the week if the weather cooperates it will be fish slaying time. If I see anything pick up, I'll post it.

Got the boat in the lake about 1:30 today. Buffs were cruising the banks pretty good. Shots were deep, most were over 4 foot. By 3:00 I was out of room in the barrel. Nothing was under 25 pounds with the biggest in the upper 30s.

This was the true test for the Barracuda. I woulda had a heckuva time keeping a arrow in those deep buffs with my recurve. Only lost 2 fish today, one was a headshot that got wrapped in the troller, the other was one that I didnt hit very well.

More action today at Desoto. Lots of shots but can't hit the broad side of a barn. Newbie. Just kinda shooting at shadows right now. Not sure where to aim on those shots. Hit one but the same thing happened that happened yesterday. The fish took off and when I went to pull him in the arrow pulled out. Maybe I need to pull back more or maybe get new tips. How about muzzy's? Would they be better for penetration? Just using the tips that came with the bow right now.

I was at Manawa today and saw about 60 grass carp cruising the just below the surface. I hit 3 and lost all. Very frustrating. I guess that this means the spawn is offical.

Muddy River if you are having penetration problems try pinching the barbs, I use a old 30lb Bear compound and after I started doing that my number of lost fish went way down.
