08 bowfishing reports

Were you there around 3? Saw a few bowfisherman there today. I shot 3 times today but missed. Didn't see much at all. The spawn was over at the spot I shot those 29 the other day. Still waiting to get a big dawg...........

I was getting off Desoto a little after 3. Ended up with only 11 buffs & 3 commons in the can. The 3 biggest were all over 20 with the largest at 23 lbs. Had 2 or 3 that I'm sure were even bigger pull off right at the boat cuz I broke my gaff earlier in the day. Had several "lack of penetrations" with the muzzy tip. Bent the tabs, then it pulled out. Switched to the sting-a-rees and finally started boating some fish. Couldn't hit squat early in the day. I'd hate to guess how many commons I missed early - 30 or 40 easy. Was starting to get pretty discouraged until I found the "easy" targets. Would have sunk the boat with a capable partner.....

I had never seen buffs like that. Boy they are fun! Swim right to ya!

Here's some pics. Too tired last night. The biggest buff had that white milky stuff leaking out all over. Is that sperm or pre-egg?? Anyway there was lots of it in the boat and barrel.

Muddy, I left at about 2:30 we were in a conoe. I don't know how you only shot 3 times I was seeing fish everywhere.

Impatience is why I only shot 3 times. I had mushrooms on my mind to give the bowfishing much time. Fished for about 20 minutes and then hunted shrooms. Ended up with about 40 shrooms though. They are all cleaned waiting to be cooked tonight. Should go well with a 6'er of Busch Light.

I believe the white stuff was sperm THans. Half those I shot the other day had a lot of that going on. The other half had lots of eggs. Eggs looked like runny cookie dough. Stuck to everything.

got 2 shots in about an hour. i dont think the water is quite warm enough yet. maybe this rain and another week of warm weather will help.

Went to Desoto again this afternoon. Hit 4 commons but only pulled in 2. The wind was gawd awful. Lots of snap shots. They'd surface outta nowhere and be gone just as fast. No more super windy days for me. No fun at all.

Went again today for 1 hour. All I had time for...probably all the longer I would have stayed anyways. I had no luck from the banks today. I only saw 3 the hour I was there. Not good for me at all. Try again tomorrow.

been going out for a bit most every day the past couple weeks. Shot probably 30 buffs and 10 commons. Couple in the 30 lb range. Can shoot all I want of quillback and suckers but they arent worth my time anymore. Im sick of those moron things. Do slam a few shad and gar for fun once in a while at point blank range.

The wife just clicked with her new bow. This was her first fish with the new rig. She shot more fish today then she did all of last year. This just made the wait til Sunday that much longer.
