08 bowfishing reports

A few of you will recognize the new holder of the sd state record. 60lbs. I guess. That's about all I know, except for the location. Received this email from this guy's nephew this morning.

headin west to visit a buddy and probably shoot some carp out of the south platte river. Last time I was there we coulda stacked them up like cord wood, but didn't have any bows along. Won't make that mistake again. Will have a report when I get back home!

got out for a couple of quick shoots this weekend. Our best afternoon was 16 commons with 5 or 6 over 10 lbs and one mirror carp that went 12. We were shooting off of a bridge that was 20' off the water, it made for an interesting shoot.

My buddy was shooting one of my cudas and hit the guard rail on the bridge when he shot and exploded the bow. This was the first time I have seen a bow do this, but a quick trip to a bow press and it is killing fish again!! This was probably my last trip untill next spring. Bring on the ducks!!!

I here ya there sorny! Its about time to kill some ducks and Honks! And then bring on the deer. We shot about a dozen carp off the dam at Calamus, probably be the last shoot for us too.

Hit the river for a few hours today, awesome day for grassies, they were everywhere. I'd shoot one be fighting it to the boat and was already lookin at the next one. By far my best day. Tomarrow will be my last time out till next spring.

Keith you suck! I dont know why I even mess with them doves. Would have rather been shooting fish. You know its going to be along time til spring!!

Me too. Could have been out with Keith yesterday but instead went out and only shot 6 doves. Only saw 10 all night. Freaking sucked.

You waiting for me to finish your post for you Keith? Alright, I'll do it. Tonight sucked. Cruised 10 miles of river bank and didn't see 1 carp. Shot at 1 maybe 2 gar that were a foot long a piece. Saw some smaller fish popping the surface eating some foam and that was it. That's it. Season's over. Thread closed.
