Default muzzy 1067

Hi guys, thinking about getting a new reel for my bow. Anyone know anything about the muzzy 1067? What type of reels do you like or don't like ?
Thanks

I shoot a retreiver, those spinners have too many problems. but I know a lot of people that shoot big fish with spinners so I guess it's all a matter of what you are comfortable with!

All that I shoot is spinners, just can't get used to a retriever. I have shot the muzzy and I did like it, but I have been shooting the same 808 bowfisher for 2 1/2 years now. Either way, I don't think you can go wrong with them both. But be sure not to over tighten the screw on the side because it will break. Oh yeah, use some reel magic, it helps alot.

I have the older Muzzy reel and no problems so far! I also have a Zebco 808 bowfisher and no problems with that either. I hate the retriever, if you're getting a lot of shots and you want to nock another arrow in a hurry, go with the spinner. The retriever has a 1:1 gear ratio. Too sssllllllooooowwww in my opinion. Then if you do get a fish most people pull the line in by hand then reel at all in after they take the fish off. I'd rather reel the fish in once and get it over with. Spool it the spinner with #200 FF!

I need to try some of the reel magic!

I love shooting a spinner. I have a retreiver on my bow now and all I ever do is cuss the damn thing. The only reason its still on there is I can make longer shots with the AMS. Will get acouple Thumperized spinners for next year and that should stop the extra drag on the arrow problem.

In my opinion I'd go with the Zebco 808 Bowfishing model. I have six of those and two muzzy's. I'm not bad mouthing muzzy by any means but I've had a lot better luck with the 808's. Buy a can of silicone spray and give the insides a shot about every other time out and you will be good to go. Run fastflight line also. The line that comes on the reel is not the best.

I shoot a spinner for same reasons as above. I can shoot almost 2 to 1 on quick shots vs a retriever. Plus you cant beat that short little rod and a nice drag system. Ive never forgot to hit the button but just in case I always leave the drag turned down to nothing. Plus this way gives that fish a chance to run if its a big hog then I can adjust as needed.

Also dont get the fast flight. Thats what ive used the last 2 years. Keith just ordered 200 lb Power Pro line and it kicks its ass all over the place. That stuff is so smooth you can barely hear it leaving the reel.

I also spray the line with lube. It sure works wonders.

Oh yea, put some bowstring wax on the screw for the handle to use as loctite. Otherwise it will fall out and you will lose it the night before you go on your paddlefish trip......................... trust me!

Shakeaspere Synergey's are cheaper ($20 at Wal-Mart) than the 808 and i have had less problems with it. I have 150lb Power Pro on it if anything they are nice for a spare to keep with you.
