Default reload

Does anyone reload 7mm rem mag rounds? If so i was just wondering if it would save me any money over going to the store for my ammo.
Thanks

I don't reload 7MM but I do reload 300 RUM, and I can do it for about 1/2 of what the cheaper ammo costs. If you shoot much you could pay for your equipment fairly quickly.

If you use premium bullets it will save you a lot.

Yep, decent savings. Also you get the satisfaction of making your own rounds. But their is a initial invetment, vise, scales, etc.

calculate what you shoot over a normal year in factory loads, then research how much it costs in buying the reloading equipment to do it yourself, and go from there. Reloading equipment goes from cheap and effective Lee to super expensive dillon/rcbs/hornady.

I can reload for all my guns cheaper than factory even with the prices of bullets going up. Once you have the brass, you only need bullets, powder and primers.

Remember that you will be able develope loads that will more than likely make your rifle shoot a lot better than factory loads.

I just did a very quick calulation and it cost me about 52 cents to reload 1 280 round(If I did that correct). This does not include the brass and any reloading equipment. As mentioned earlier, no use in estimating that - way too much variance. I reload a lot due to postal 100 yd matches and varmit hunting. If all I did was shoot deer - reloading would not be worth it for me.

Last time I checked, a box of 30-06 shells was $16.00/20 shells = 80 cents. As you can see, if you shoot a lot it will not take long to pay for itself, however if all you do is sight your rifle in and shoot a deer then put your rifle away it is not worth it.

It is correct that you can tune your load/rifle so it increases accuracy, however, a deer at 100 yds probably won't notice the difference between a 1.5" group and a .5" group. Varmits = whole nother story.

I think it boils down to 3 things:
1. Reload if you want to squeeze the most out of your rifle
2. Reload if you shoot a lot
3. Reload if you enjoy the satisfaction of making it "yours"

Stanley

Well said Stanley. I also wanted to throw in that you can find your reloading equipment fairly cheap on ebay from time to time. But remember you get what you pay for and safety is always the first concern. But dies are fairly cheap there as well as case trimmers and presses.
