Game and Parks is now offering a bonus for hunters, anglers, outdoor enthusiasts and mobile apps fans, the Nebraska State Parks “Pocket Ranger” mobile app. Download The “Pocket Ranger” mobile app and experience the perfect way for park goers to Map it, Discover and Explore what Nebraska’s 74 Parks have to offer.
The new customized mobile app is FREE and offers advanced interactive GPS and GIS Map technology for tracking trails, marking waypoints and locating landmarks in the great outdoors. Users are also able to locate friends within parks using the Friend Finder feature. Visitors can search for parks within a particular region or choose to retrieve information from a comprehensive list of activities offered at all parks.
The life-saving Alert feature provides GPS coordinates to designated contacts in emergency situations. mobile users can cache park maps on their phone to access them for navigation in the event of lost mobile reception.
The app also includes a Calendar of Events that is updated in real time and will allow users to plan for upcoming events for each Park. Park rules and regulations can be reviewed with a skim of the finger. With just a few clicks you can secure overnight reservations using the Pocket Ranger app. There are social networking capabilities including Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and a feature that allows the mobile user to publish and share photos.
The Android version of the “Pocket Ranger” is coming soon. Pocket Ranger will also be available soon in a Mobile Website format for ease of use for all Blackberry and feature phone users.
